Hello All and happy new year to you. It has been a long time but after composing many of these in my mind I decided to take the time and put it out on "paper." We had a great Christmas and break from school. We have been busy working on tax prep and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 8th child. We are due in February. But as exciting as that is that is not my reason for writing. Some thoughts I just had to share.    -- Educate your Desires... powerful words. One's that necessitate rolling around in your head for a while. Meaning do something about your desires don't just dream about them. LEarn, Do... so with that thought the following story and learning.   -- We had our pinewood derby tonight. Yes we had our last one just a little over 7 months ago. So we should have not been out of practice. However we apparently still have a lot to learn. We were dead last. Yep first car disqualified, first boy to be taken out of the race, the works. It was terrible for Ha...

Merry Christmas and Happy New YEAR!  This year has flown by and we are so enjoying the holiday season. For the first time in my life I had my kids and most of the other people on my list figured out and bought for before thanksgiving. It has been great to have time to do other things like book work and hold sick kids. Because we have so many kids the older ones are well and it's just the youngest two who are slugging out this cold flu thing.     Another first in my life I consented to go shopping on black friday. I was honestly surprised at the low key atmosphere in most places and mostly enjoyed going out to breakfast with my sister in-laws. We did however venture into Joanne's after and found the real deal. Long LONg lines of shoppers with carts full of material. I think I have decided to just buy projects as I am ready to tackle them. As I get excited when buying and need that momentum to get the project done. I found gorgeous brocade and decided to make the girls...

We all hear the adage you will get what you expect. This applies not only to ourselves but to those around us that we have personal influence on. Today we had our primary program. The kids had their parts memorized and did well with them. Aliza gave a talk about the priesthood and Joseph Smith searching for answers, reading James 1:5 and then his account of seeing God the Father and the Son. She was excited to get to say quote and end quote. All the speakers in general conference use that phrasing and she asked why they did. So she was proud of being able to encorporate it into her talk as well.  She did a great job. I expected her to do a great job.    I expected all my children to be brave to give their part and if given the choice to say more than one mumbled word into their collar. I expected my class of 12 year olds to give talks that were more than just 2 sentence answers to questions. They too did a great job using 2 scriptures, personal st...

You know when life gets crazy or I get so overwhelmed or run over, it's nice to look at the proof in the pictures that we are okay.  Life has been busy and the most exciting thing recently- as in this morning at 7:30- was Harold excitedly rushing in to notify us that it was snowing and there was snow on the ground!!! The kids waited patiently for us to join in their celebration but because it was not so motivating to us, they suited up in there best blizzard gear and headed out to make a snowman. Now there was only a skiff in fact it was mostly melted by church but they had fun making snowballs and reveling in the early snow. Harold prays for snow, Anna prays for it not to snow... and the rest enjoy it either way. Needless to say church was full of eager to experience winter kids and the reverence level was a bit more on the exuberant side than peaceful. As always in a faming community we are grateful for water and thankful most of the crop is in.    2 weeks ago one of th...

This week Adelaide fell in love with Aunt Sheryl. She loves spending time with Aunt Sheryl helping her do whatever she is doing. One of their projects was making cookies. They were yummy. They also cleaned and organized various parts of grandma's house. Addie loves to help and calls her self a good worker.  Another fun happening of the week was grape harvest at our house. John and Harold picked the grapes then we plucked them off the vine and put them in bottles for grape juice. Such a great treat and simple recipe it is a must on the fall canning list. We also went to beet harvest and lunch.  The kids all got to ride with various uncles and grandparents and really enjoyed the time to visit, observe, and explore the beet harvest world.  A great treat for Reed and Harold was a little dog named Tiger who was a surprise guest at lunch time.  He is little dog just REed's size but nice and not yippy. The boys really enjoyed loving him. Addie was brave and rode al...
