As I contemplated and tried to mentally note things to talk about this week- as I assure you and me I do more than nothing everyday- I was amazed at all the ah-hah moments I had. First off I sat and actually watched a whole movie all the way through on Monday. HIGHLY unusual for me to sit that long and do nothing. I mean I will search for coupons or do books or scrapbook or sew but not just watch a movie. But I held my kids. Sometimes 3 at a time sometimes one at a time but I just enjoyed them. It was so great and I really need to do it more often. So I did I think I watched the incredibles 3x this week and just held them. I taught Addie patty cake and just loved my big boys. It was so good and they were so good and the week was much nicer. I do however have to return to cleaning up with vengeance and books as tax time is lurking very close.
So in that do nothing time we did go to the grade school to early COLD mornings in a row one on accident as I didn't look at dates and the calendar closely enough before the mad dash and the second day to see Anna and Aliza receive the Most Improved Student award from their teachers. It's always good to see them progress and to see the school and feel of the spirit that is their amongst the administration, teachers, and students.

On Friday we got diagnosed with Strep and got the most amazing drug amoxicillin that is making us better. Thank goodness for modern medicine as my patience and nerves are about done with sickness.
And now to my Ode to my Fabulous Husband. Today one of our 2 holstein bull calves died. The darn thing has been trying to give up the ghost for 3 maybe 4 weeks now. We kept doctoring it and lifting it up and pulling it up and bottle feeding it because it refused to learn to drink out of a bucket which is much much quicker and should be instinctual. Any way we "rescued" or prolonged it's life just one week ago with penicillin. the neighbor dairyman and his daughter my good friend showed/taught me how to give shots, more properly house them etc. We made it through thought all was good. and then yesterday Greg found it down again. he took care of the lifting it up mind you it weighs at least 200 lbs dead lifting that is a lot! Then he and the kids coddled it with multiple bottles of water to get it hydrated. This morning it was dead. Harold came in and told me, that began the immediate pilgrimage to the barn to see what a dead calf looked like. All the kids except Reed- only because no one thought to take him and I didn't feel any desire to go- went to see and touch the dead calf. They were so proud of themselves for being so brave. Of course this is only 1 hour before church. Well that didn't help our day. But my super man took care of disposal of the animal and I didn't have to see, touch, or smell it. Thank heaven this happened today and not tomorrow when it could possibly have been my job. He is so good about all this reality stuff and the muscles part of our very small barnyard. I am glad the kids are dealing with this again- we lost the dog in the fall- they were way less upset and are taking it like farm kids as a matter of life and just part of things. That is another reason I am okay with this happening we gave it our best in taking care of it and doing what we could but as mark said it just didn't want to live anymore. So I am thankful for the strong man who takes care of problems I don't want to deal with. He doesn't complain, he doesn't ever get grossed out or think it is too minor or major. I love him for the real man he is. I call him my cave man and he is but he's exactly what I want and need. Thank Heaven for him.

The other thing I wanted to note and is depicted in the pictures is the scout program. Harold is our first cub scout and man oh man I LOVE THIS PROGRAM! It is so where our family is at. The discussions, role playing, activities, learning areas. It is so great. I love character development and it is so fun to watch my whole family of children participate. The leap frog round that went up and down my family room the oldest 5 jumping over each other. The role playing John saving Addie from a stranger trying to entice them to his car (Harold) It was so fun! I honestly wonder how Anna and Harold managed to get this far without the entertainment crew Reed and Addie have. So if you get the chance look at the program it is so awesome and so boy. So that brings us to the pictures. One requirement is for the scout to make his own breakfast and clean up. So harold and anna got up early to make breakfast of egg sandwiches. Like at 7:30 church is at 11:30. Wondered why robbers were in the house but was too tired to care until greg went up and saw they had scrambled eggs and toasted a loaf of bread.... We resumed cooking after the calf fiasco. Let's just say I am way chauvinist and my daughter knew how to crack and scramble eggs at three. This breakfast is a cinch requiring little in put from me. For Harold it was much different. For many scouts cooking is the hardest requirement. I see why.
So after some instruction and patience in showing harold how to position his thumbs to split the egg. Then requiring he pick out all the shell in the eggs and instructing him how to vigorously scramble then cook eggs... phew. WE began. It turned out breakfast was manly and farm like our bacon, homemade bread from Corn Farms wheat, Raspberry jam from Grandma Sue's berries, eggs from Harold's chickens and OJ from the store. One lesson down and many many more before he has hopes of surviving alone. He did make gravy tonight. I told him Granpa Saunders had to teach Granma when they got married. Anna said yeah if your wife doesn't know how mom won't let you marry her.... Don't think I will be that harsh.

Oh and Anna and Harold can practice and complain at the same time about how hard piano is and that they are quitting. Don't think so. Again my super man was wise in getting so many torture instruments. I can really make them suffer and practice practice practice. :)
Love to you all.
