This week was busy and then again not. I am spending a LOT of time at my computer working on our books. It is always an enormous task and one that is very frustrating on many many levels but I will not rant too much about the corruptness of our tax and political system in this post. We took some breaks and went to the Treasure Valley Ag Show in Caldwell. Greg and I both have fond memories of this event from our childhoods and it was fun... well good parenting? to take the kids. After the kids, all 6, had climbed into and out of about 6 tractors he said I always wondered why my mom was so frustrated and ready to go when we came to these I see why now... Yes I was gritting my teeth and just amazed that they wanted to climb into every tractor (20 or more) that was the same exact thing as the last one again and again. But they did and they wanted pictures and they were very happy kids. There is also an exhibitor hall where they have products and services like insurance. So we hit every candy, key chain, sticker, brochure stop in there and again they loved it and came away with full bags. How do kids eat so much candy and not get belly aches? Maybe mine have a great tolerance for it as they do this whenever the opportunity comes. And have you noticed it's not just Halloween any more it's any holiday. But I did get a report that some of the violence and civil unrest in the world has struck the cocoa farmers and there is going to be a real shortage on chocolate. Maybe we will start rationing the chocolate chips to have enough?

Wednesday we got up early to go to the dentist with Mark and John. Mark had substantial work done in Dec but we were getting it checked. He checked out great. Phew. Then John got in the chair. Oh my he had MANY Many cavities. So we began and an hour later, many tears later (just scared not hurting) and 12 fillings he was out of the chair and going to Carl's Junior for 1 chocolate milkshake of his own to sooth his mouth. I know crazy. All that money on fillings and then more sugar. But again I remember lots of dental work as a kid and the one thing that made it semi-okay was the milkshake to cool down my mouth. And it feels so cool on a numb mouth. Discovering what is asleep and what is not. So he enjoyed it and Addie, Mark, and I enjoyed sharing another one. I was frazzled from the experience too so I guess I was psychologically healing as well. Again if we don't have chocolate what will we do?
Then I spent the rest of the week sitting and typing and thinking at my computer. We did have pack meeting on Thursday Harold did a puppet show with his den. It was humorous. We had a service auction in RS on Friday. I took bread and lasagna to be auctioned. It's always so nice when people bid on your stuff. It makes you feel like you do have some talent. Not that I think I don't it's just nice. I got some babysitting and 2 doz cin rolls. So excited to redeem those.
Saturday we cleaned the church. The kids were so great about asking what can we do next. They did lots of dusting and got fine instruction from Grandpa Saunders on how to vacuum a room. As he is a master cleaner I figured this was worth any second thoughts about early morning cleaning. And I am going to put his instruction to use. We also moved rocks.

As a kid our house needed some landscaping work and of course we needed some discipline. Something truly awful that was a true punishment. My cleaver mother would send us to the rock pile to move one red flyer wagon load of rocks as a punishment. Well we are almost up to our knees in mud. And I happen to have a rock pile out there. So I decided there was no time like the present un-scheduled Saturday to move some rock in hopes that on Sunday I would not get my church shoes so muddy. So we moved rocks. Admittedly more rocks moved when I went out there and instructed and showed them the art. I guess I do have talent there. :) But I think the value of rocks is really priceless as they were busy. It is so much nicer to walk and they weren't plugged in all day. And they got a smidge tired. So to all you moms get some rocks. They stay put, they don't need water and they take hours and hours to place. Well unless you are really serious and do it with your hubby then it's quicker.
So I guess we had a week of nostalgia. Passing on memories and good experiences. I am thankful for parents and grandparents who loved us enough to involve us and share their lives with us. Our kids enjoy spending time with us and being part of the happenings. I did hear a thought this week from "FAith Proceeds the MIracle" Spencer W. Kimball. The mysteries of Heaven are the gospel. The foundation and understanding we have in who we are, why we are here, where we are going etc. These are the great mysteries. Does God bless us with A+ or leading thoughts not always in fact not often. But those concepts understood and lived give root and foundation to a life with purpose. That all learning and worthwhile knowledge is not from books or peers but rather from our scriptures and faith and things that we take for granted as church answers are what so so many people are lacking and searching for. It's from chapter 5 I think. There is a great story that illustrates the point won't share it all here. But if you are wondering about education/learning/life and such it would be a good chapter to read. I haven't heard/ read the book so I don't know about the rest. I will say I love the insights I get from listening to radio.lds.org... it is so much more hopeful than talk radio which is the other thing I listen to while typing.
We love you and hope you are well. We are still not 100% but about 80 so that's better than it has been. Oh and Reed got his two front teeth so he is much happier. and Aliza gave her first talk in primary on Ruth and Naomi. She did well. Best wishes to you and yours.
