Lots of pictures this week. But of course a lot has happened.
Well an update. After the sad song of last weeks email I had a great maybe miraculous Monday. I felt very impressed to clean the bathroom. So after committing to dedicated spring cleaning I acted. As I was cleaning I found a bag I had seen for days it held my car keys!!! YEAH! So I didn't have to replace them after all. I was so excited and that ended my big drive to spring cleaning. Actually I did do some more read on. I also read and enjoyed all of your comments on vacuums. The Kenmore from sears got the most compliments. I did look at them but was dismayed with the bag issue. I have used a rainbow for the last 20 years or so and well I like seeing what I got- and being able to retrieve what was gotten and I like that it doubles as a wet vac when my basement does it's bi-yearly flooding. So I got on craigs list and found one locally for cheaper than the kenmore. On Tuesday night I took Greg - I didn't know what I would be entering so I wanted my body guard and kid keeper with me- and tried it out. It looked and sounded and works great! It was a real blessing as I said cheaper than the Kenmore which I was not so sure about for my family situation. The people we bought it from were super nice they even sent us away with a box of ice cream sandwhiches for the kids being so patient in the car. Attached is one picture of John trying out the new vac. I did more cleaning so I could use my vacuum.

After the 4th trip over the house in two days I did have a talk with myself that "hey this is just a vacuum new or not it does the same job as the old." Now I really probably should vacuum everyday but don't and probably won't even though I really like the new one and am impressed with the new changes they made. And the engineering is fun for Harold to discover and figure out. One complaint of the previous owner was it had too many gadgets and things to make sense of. He is loving all those gadgets and hidden things.

Alena worked her skills and made the girls some beautiful hair flowers. I was a bit dismayed when we got to church and saw a different girl had graduated to a dragonfly in her hair. Makes sense to progress on to pretty bugs. So I guess I will keep my eyes out for butterflies. Ahhh fashion. The girls have loved being pretty Aliza even wears hers to chores. She is so funny about having to look just so no matter what the occasion. I'm sure we will rue the day she becomes a bona fide teenager and needs to dress perfectly and hair and make-up just so to leave her room. With all the brothers maybe they will keep her to a minimum of primping.

It was Reed's birthday on Saturday. He got strawberry pie his favorite. He wasn't sure what to do with the whole pie he kept trying to touch it but not being sure it was okay, or putting his face down to just chow down but not being sure where to start. We gave him a piece of his own and he knew just what to do with that. We did not have a big to do just a day of holding him and playing with him which is what he most wants. He decided to be a toddler this week and is a confident- too big for his britches-- climber on couches, chairs, the table whatever he determines and has a low enough entry point. He also took three steps last night and is just playing more mature games. I even caught him stacking his vegetables one night. It was cute how he was making towers of carrots then eating them and rearranging them before eating them. It is amazing how they grow. I included the picture I sent last year at this time to show how much they have changed or grown.
We are also doing chores as the family is gone again. It is wet and wet but a good reason to get out and get some calories burned. That means more cookies during the day right? No actually it shouldn't But all is well and the kids are enjoying it.
.

Oh last note. John is showing his sword. He is really into sword fighting like in star wars- which he saw at a friends against my wishes. He makes the zing zing noises and shows me his sword moves. He is sure going through the tape but is generous enough to make a sword for Mark and Addy. Then they of course have to fight. They are good. Thank goodness the swords are mostly dull and not heavy enough to inflict real damage. It is fun to watch them create and instruct each other on how to play their game.

Harold also shares his talents although with paper. He makes them all paper airplanes and they race those too. We have many many papers that have given service as fast or not so fast planes. He got a book from the library showing him new designs and possibilities and has lots of opportunity to share those skills with his siblings.

Wish you all well. Enjoy the break. We are sick with the flu now so we are just feeding animals, coughing, and resting here at home. IT is so great to see the kids sit and read while they are sick. I LOVE to read and am so glad they are choosing to too. Hope you have a great week.
